"He who will not reason is a bigot, he who cannot is a fool, and he who dares not is a slave."
William Drummond, Scottish writer (1585-1649).

Outcome Based Education:
"Barbara Tennison also reported that in the elementary schools of the district, teachers did "home evaluations," in which the teacher made an appointment to go into the child's home, not for a parent-teacher conference, but to investigate the environment of the home. They refused to tell the parents the reason for the visitation, but the school district policy was to do so in order to identify and evaluate "at risk" children. It is assumed that a parent who refuses admission of the state's agent into the home provides confirmation that their child is "at risk". " The desired outcomes could've been designed by Karl Marx or Adolph Hitler. The time to end this tax-funded forced cultural reprogramming is NOW!

Aeroflot Protests U.S. Smoking Ban:
Russia's largest air carrier has accused the United States of breaking international law by banning smoking on all scheduled airline flights between the United States and other countries.

Congress Wants You to Shut Up!:
Congress is trying to sneak by legislation that will destroy your Constitutional right to speak out.

Government Orders Health Warnings On Cigar Labels:
Cigar makers say they oppose the warnings but said a federal standard would be easier to deal with than adhering to different state rules.

Butting Out By-Law:
"There are 32 casinos within an 8-hour drive from the city of Winnipeg. Every one of them allows smoking...What do you think would happen to the business to the casinos, to the hotel I'm building?" said Leo Ledohowski, who heads up the Hospitality Corporation, which runs The Transcona Inn, The Windsor Park Inn and other Winnipeg hotels.

Annual Rating of Congress:
ACU has rated every member of the House and Senate since 1971.

All You Can Tax:
...a tax on fast food will not cure American gluttony. It will do nothing to stop people from continuing to consume mass quantities of poorly prepared food, nor will it encourage them to consume smaller quantities of well-prepared food.

We Are Everyday People:

The Attack Of The Killer Crayons: What we have is risk standards set neither on a logical nor scientific basis, but instead media- and demagogue-driven. As one CPSC commissioner complained in a press release in her group's decision, " 'science' more closely resembled 'political' science."

Stress Plus Caffeine Equals High Blood Pressure: Nearly 50 million Americans have high blood pressure, which can cause heart disease, strokes and kidney failure.

Stress Less in Six Steps

Meningitis C Vaccine Stirs Fear: Concerning fear over vaccination safety continues to grow among parents of young children as an increasing number of childhood vaccines hit the market.

Native Heart Disease Doubles: 'Thrifty' gene cannot cope with altered diet. "If children are already obese at ages five, six, seven and eight, then they're going to be at very high risk of getting diabetes and their diabetes will lead to even more complications."

From The Mailbag:

Restaurants, offices, and bowling alleys are PRIVATE, not public property, and as such their smoking policies should be determined by their OWNERS or LESSORS, since they are the ones who will bear the losses when smokers snub them.
