How many of you read this month's June issue of the "American Journal of Public Health"? You've been browsing through it? Me, too. Well, I only bring this up because this actually is something that is coming for all of us, and that is taxes on junk food because this journal, which is very actually influential and a harbinger of things to come, recommends that soft drinks and snack foods now be taxed just the way the government taxes liquor and cigarettes. You know, for our own good. To protect us. Because they care about us and they want to discourage us from doing things. It's not the taxes that they want to live off of, it's for our own good. -Bill Maher, PI transcript June 8, 2000
