Lithuanian Prime Minister Gediminas Kirkilas smoked his beloved pipe in the bar of the Klaipeda hotel in the eponymous city port, at a meeting. The hotel has been hit with a hefty fine.

India: Defying the blanket ban on smoking at the State Secretariat, West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on Tuesday made it clear that he would continue to puff inside his office.

Torching of his office puzzles state Rep. Robert E. Belfanti Jr... has gotten publicity in recent weeks because of his position on the smoking ban legislation in the General Assembly. He believes there should be some exceptions for private organizations and neighborhood taverns.
