England: Lord Steel calls for ventilation to allow smoking in pubs. “Under my new clause, it will not be possible to have a pub or a restaurant which does not provide smoking facilities.”
England: Peer calls for two-year wait for smoke ban. Other Lords, including Lord Monson, Lord Stoddart and Lord Wakeham, suggested the move towards a complete smoking ban had been a step too far – and that the government had been wrong to allow a free vote of MPs on the subject in February.


Czech Republic: This week the Chamber of Deputies struck down a bill amendment that would have banned smoking in restaurants.

South Carolina Bill that bans restaurant smoking dies in House. "I don't think government should say what we can and can't do," said Rep. Bob Leach, R-Greenville. "Tomorrow we're going to come in here and Rutherford will have an amendment that women can't wear perfume because it's offensive to somebody."

Smoking Ban Snuffs Out White Salmon Watering Hole
"The first day after I-901 took effect, we were down $500 from a normal day," Mike Zitur told the White Salmon Enterprise. "We were about $10,000 down in revenue each month. ... This is what can happen when voters use their right to vote to take other people's rights away."
